And thank you firemen of Helsinki! The shocking news this morning reported about a fire in our Salakauppa/Secret Shop in Helsinki. The fire started from the neon sign on top of the roof. About Secrets of Helsinki: Last summer Aamu Song & Johan Olin of COMPANY started a journey to find the manufacturers and makers still working inside Helsinki borders. The visits to the manufacturers in Helsinki are collected into an exhibition inside Salakauppa. The project gave birth to a range of new Helsinki products. New products inspired and based on each makers own traditions. Salakauppa will also have a new neighbor building, a Secret Factory, where more Helsinki products are made during the exhibition. ’Secrets of Helsinki’ project is part of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme. Company takes part in a panel discussion in Helsinki Design Open, 12pm in Rautatalo, Keskuskatu 3, 00100 Helsinki.  12.08.2012. We designed a stool for Nikari, a Finnish manufacturer of sustainable wooden furnitures. ’Rudi-Kari’ stool follows the inventions of the Nikari masters, carpenters Rudi Merz and Kari Virtanen. It stands on Rudi's legs and carries Kari's head. The firm connection between the legs and the seat is made using parts of tree where a branch has grown – the strongest part of the tree – an innovation Rudi has previously used in coat hangers. Opening of the exhibition SAMMEN / TOGETHER at the Trondheim Kunstmuseum, Norway. We just completed a new furniture for the museum foyer. Our ’multicultural furniture’ is titled SAMMEN and it's where different religions and beliefs meet. The symbols, motifs and structures used in different religions are connected into one. A Christian church bench meets with Islamic prayer rugs, which grow Torii gates, that merges into pagodas that are equipped with ancient talismans, and more.  18.07.2012. We are in Trondheim, Norway, finishing up the installation of ’Sammen‘, our foyer furniture piece for Trondheim Kunstmuseum.
